don’t quit, pivot instead…
When Varin L. was 14, he had a vision: become a successful YouTuber. Seven years later, he's running 12 monetized channels in partnership with Sony Music, reaching 300 million viewers worldwide. But here's what he doesn't put in his bio: he created over 100 failed channels before finding his formula.
"I was making hundreds of channels, niches that I didn't even enjoy," Varin admits. "Gaming videos, cooking videos, technology videos; anything to try and succeed. And it was so demotivating seeing the effort that I was putting in not paying off."
Sound familiar? You're not alone.
When MrBeast almost gave up
Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has a similar story. Before becoming YouTube's biggest philanthropist with over 200 million subscribers, he spent five years making videos that barely got views. He uploaded his first video at 13 and didn't see real success until he was 18. That's five years of grinding with almost nothing to show for it.
In interviews, MrBeast has revealed he made hundreds of videos that "sucked" before understanding what worked. He studied viral content obsessively, analyzing why some videos exploded while others died. The difference between him and the millions who gave up? He kept going when it made absolutely no sense to continue.
The real success formula nobody talks about
Here's what Varin learned after making those 100+ channels: Success isn't about finding the perfect idea on your first try. It's about having enough attempts to even discover what works.
"Most successful people that I know that have made it on YouTube have made hundreds of channels and never saw success off of it," Varin explains. "If you never quit, you can never fail. And if you never fail, then you're going to succeed eventually."
Think about it: Would you rather try once and wonder "what if?" or try 100 times and actually find out?
Practical takeways
Volume beats perfection, Varin made 100+ channels. MrBeast uploaded for 5 years. Your first attempt is not your best, it just needs to exist, till this is the right attempt.
Demotivation is part of the process, if you're feeling discouraged right now, this is normal. If it was easy everyone would do it, you're exactly where every successful creator has been, you just need to keep pushing and not give up.
Pivot without quitting, Varin tried gaming, cooking, and tech before finding his passion in music curation. Changing direction isn't failure; it's strategy. You need to pivot till you find the right formula.
The difference between you and the person living your dream isn't talent or luck, it's how many times you're willing to fail before you win.
